Aloha from Kona!
Living in Hawaii has been an absolute gift. The ocean, the community, the warmth—both literal and figurative—we’re soaking it all in. We’re settling into a rhythm, making new friendships, and stepping into opportunities that stretch and inspire us. This season is shaping us in ways we can’t even fully see yet, and we’re just trying to keep up!
But beyond just enjoying where we are, we’re stepping into new dreams—one of them being music. Worship and creativity have always been a huge part of our hearts, and we’ve finally started recording and releasing songs! Our latest, You Are All I Need, is out now. Funny enough, I actually wrote this song back in high school (back when I thought I had everything figured out), but God had me pull it out, breathe new life into it, and release it in this season. He works in ways we never expect, doesn’t He? If you want to listen, here you go:
OUR MUSIC
We pray it blesses you as much as it blessed us to record it!
Family Life: A Whole Lot of Fun and Growth
Life with kids is never dull, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
- Korban (3rd grade) had a moment with God a few weeks ago that stopped us in our tracks. He was in class when his heart started burning—not in a panic kind of way, but in a God-is-so-near-I-can-feel-it kind of way. He said he felt overwhelming love, deep forgiveness, and, more than anything, how much the Father loves him. That’s the kind of moment that changes you.
- Adaleigh (1st grade) is living her best life—constantly creating, constantly telling stories, and constantly keeping us entertained. She’s got a wild imagination, an artist’s heart, and the best giggle you’ve ever heard.
- Jathyn (2nd grade) is thriving—he’s crushing it in school and just wrapped up baseball season here in Hawaii. He loved every second of it. Give him a ball, a bat, and some dirt, and he’s all in.
- Emery (preschool) is ruling the world from home with Dad as her sidekick. She’s curious, hilarious, and always up to something. Preschool is going great… but honestly, she’s probably teaching us more than we’re teaching her!
What about Mazevo Coffee?
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room—what about Mazevo Coffee? 🧐
I know you’re wondering, so let’s dive in!
Did you know that business can be a mission field? In 1975, Loren Cunningham and Bill Bright simultaneously received a revelation from God about seven key areas that shape every society: Family, Economy (Business), Government, Religion, Education, Media, and Celebration (Arts & Entertainment). These spheres influence the values, beliefs, and worldview of nations, and God’s heart is for His Kingdom to bring transformation within each of them. It’s not about control but engagement—living out biblical principles in the spaces where culture is shaped.
My journey with Mazevo Coffee has been deeply connected to this understanding. For eight years, I served as CEO, and while I’ve transitioned out of that role, I remain actively involved in its mission. Mazevo operates within the Business and Media spheres, using coffee as a bridge to influence culture through integrity, generosity, and relationships. Whether through supporting micro-loans for coffee farmers, partnering with local ministries, or cultivating a workplace of purpose, we see business as a means of advancing God’s Kingdom.
But this journey started even earlier. Back in 2013, I did a Fire & Fragrance DTS with YWAM Kona. If you’re new to our story, here’s the short version: I knew I wanted to be part of the Great Commission and see real, wholistic transformation happen through the Gospel. I may not have had all the right words for it back then, but the fire was there!
After coming back to Montana, I felt stuck—like I had this calling but didn’t know where to go with it. Thankfully, I had my hands full with something pretty important: pursuing my now-wife, Keira. (Great decision, by the way.) But about a year later, I felt the Father nudge me toward the mission field of business—which, at the time, sounded about as clear as a foggy windshield. I had no idea what that meant, but as I leaned in, I started to see something incredible.
Through coffee, we had a real, tangible way to bring transformation—both in Montana and around the world. Coffee shops could be places of discipleship, leadership, and community, where people were encouraged to love one another, one cup at a time. And beyond that, overseas, we could support economic growth in a sustainable way through micro-loans. But the best part? The real relationships we were building—ones that didn’t start with a “Hey, can I tell you about Jesus?” but more like, “Hey, I love your coffee. Let’s do business together. Also, I love Jesus.” Not a pitch—just an overflow of who we are.
So here we are, years later, still chasing this vision. Stepping away from my role as CEO of Mazevo Coffee wasn’t about walking away from the dream—it was about making more room for it to grow. When you're deep in the day-to-day of running a business, it’s hard to lift your head and see the bigger picture. I realized that if we really wanted to expand our impact, we needed to create space to build new relationships—with potential partners, vendors, and like-minded businesses across the globe who are chasing the same vision.
What’s Next?
Keira is right in the middle of her Brave Love DTS (Discipleship Training School)—a key step toward stepping into leadership in the YWAM community. And honestly? She’s loving it! It’s been such a sweet season of growing with the Lord, learning new things, and seeing Him confirm and solidify the work He’s already been doing in her heart. Plus, new friendships, new challenges, and a whole new season of life—it’s all so good.
As part of her DTS, as a family, we will all be heading to New Zealand for outreach this April and May! We’re not totally sure what our role in this adventure will be yet, but we’re leaning in, trusting that God has a plan, and excited to see what unfolds. We’ll keep you updated as we figure it out! 🚀🇳🇿✨
Alongside all of this, I’ve been building some incredible new relationships—walking with pioneers who have been living out this vision of transforming nations through the whole Gospel in every sphere, for every person, for a lot longer than I have. It’s been humbling, inspiring, and full of big-picture dreaming. Real vision is taking shape, and over the next year or two, we’re going to have some exciting projects to share—can’t wait to bring you along for the ride!
